Waxing solutions

Another use of candle at home :

1. Facilitate the operation of moving parts : remove the drawers from its compartment and generously rub some candle wax along the runners of the drawer before sliding it back into place. Similarly, can be employed on stubborn zippers.Rub some candle wax on the zipper teeth and gently move it up and down. Repeat the process until the zipper slides up and down smoothly.

2. Fix a frayed shoelace : to sort out a tattered shoelace and to prevent it from unraveling further, simply dip the ragged end into some melted wax and then remove it. After a few seconds, rol the wax coated shoelace end between two fingers to tighten and shape it. Then dip the shoelace end into the melted wax again for reinforcement.

3. Used as a pin cushion : use either a wide cylindrical or square shaped candle which offer optimum surface area. Piercing the pins and needles into the wax also helps these item to glide more easily through fabric.

4. Weather proof labels : to protect your outgoing mail (especially to destinations with wet and cold climates) rub a candle over the addrsss label of your letters or packages.

However, one of the less combustible hazards associated with burning candles is split wax. To remove thw hardened wax, heat it with a hairdryer until it is soften. Then use an absorbent paper towel or cloth to simply wipe off the melted wax. If the wax drippings on soft furnishing (carpet, tablecloth, any fabrics), place a piece of newspaper on both side on on top of the stained items. Heat up an iron until is it medium hot and iron the piece of newspaper on top of the split wax. The wax will then absorbed into the newspaper. Replace the pieces of newspaper as many times as required until all the wax is blotted off.
